The Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) came into being in 1990, at the beginning of the decade that set the twin issues of conservation of biodiversity and its sustainable use in the agenda for global action. The richness of India’s biodiversity and its rapid erosion in the last few decades need no telling. Most ecosystems have been degraded, fragmented and depleted to an extent that their conservation requires intense and informed management.
Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, Coimbatore requires research personnel for the project entitled “Conservation of the Andaman Serpent-eagle Spilornis elgini in the Andaman Islands”
- Name of the Position : Junior Research Fellow
- Age : Below 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications
- Duration : 24 months
- Fellowship : Rs. 18,000/- per month
- Desired Profile : M.Sc., in Life Sciences/ Wildlife biology / Ecology /Environmental Science/ Environmental Management and any other related subject
- Preferred : knowledge in field biology and ornithology; working experience on Raptors is preferred; dedication to work in remote and inaccessible islands in harsh conditions; Candidate with tree climbing skills will be preferred. Selected candidate is expected to join the project immediately.
